3. Scientist Name: John Logie
Baird
Short Biography:
John Logie Baird was born in 1888 in Helensburgh,
Scotland. He Invented televised pictures of objects in motion. He demonstrated
color television in 1928. At first he produced outline in 1924, transmitted
recognizable human faces in 1925 and moving objects in 1926. In 1927 Baird
transmitted sound and images over more than 400 miles of telephone wire from
London to Glasgow, and in 1928 he sent the first television transmission across
the Atlantic Ocean from London to New York.
BBC television
used his technique to broadcast from 1929 to 1937. Baird’s visual images are
fuzzy and flickering. He continued his
inventions for the rest of his life and developing electronic color television
and 3D television. He died of a stroke in 1946 in England.
